Self Defeating Behaviors Group
The theme of this group is learning to identify and modify self-defeating behaviors as defined by a series of habitual choices that separates a person from life supporting feelings, values, attitudes, beliefs, and actions.
This group utilizes a combination of process and skill group models.
Offered – Every Month - Closed Group (minimum 4 participants)
Length – 1.5 hours
Duration – 4 sessions - 1 per week (four consecutive weeks)

Key Concepts & Objectives
Reduce the likelihood of continued alcohol and/or substance use resulting in legal, social and emotional problems
Identification & exploration self-defeating behaviors
Allows clients to reflect on their own behavior and how self-defeating behaviors have factored in to this behavior
Knowledge of irrational thoughts and how they lead to self-defeating behaviors
Engage clients in discussion in order to relate what they are learning to their own substance use.
