Alcohol Highway Safety

The goal of this class is to educate clients in the area of alcohol as it pertains to driving after consumption.  It concentrates on the development of knowledge and changing the attitudes of offenders. The philosophy for including clients convicted of MIP’s is to utilize the other clients to increase awareness and motivation in an attempt to prevent future delinquency. This class is didactic.

Key Concepts & Objectives

Reduce the likelihood of continued alcohol use resulting in legal, social and emotional problems

Clients will understand the physiological process of alcohol absorption, metabolism and elimination.

Examination of behavioral changes associated with the consumption of alcohol.
Recognition of the impact of a DUI arrest on family, employment and friends.

Information on local resources for continued treatment (mental health & substance abuse)

Session 1 – Initial assessment of knowledge
Session 2 – Physiological effects of alcohol on the human body & driving skills
Session 3 – Choices & consequences, behavior modification & early warning signs
Session 4 – Laws & identification of preventative measures
Session 5 – The Other Breakfast Club video & closing assessment of knowledge
